There is no doubt that socially relevant sitcoms are a rarity. Now imagine a socially relevant sitcom where the character with the densest moral fiber is a Muslim Pakistani teen. May I present to you Aliens in America! I am not sure how popular this show is, but I love the biting political satire mixed with messages of morality. No, not the moral majority kind of morality...but morality at it's most basic. Remembering to be kind to strangers, yourself, your family. Remembering how to be kind to yourself, even when the people around you are cruel.
The plots are totally unique and extremely timely, especially in the increasingly fervent anti-islamic world/country we are living in today.
Not only is it showing a different side of Islam, but it is reminding us that not all teenagers are little shits.
I hope that no one notices how irreverent it really is and pulls the plug.
