Rob Duskey and The Roundersgenre: rock
added: Oct 01 2009

"Cleveland hasn't had a male/female vocalist rock record pairing as enjoyable as this in a long time." -CoolCleveland.com Getting signed as the first rock act to Boston's Slanted House dance-techno label really took Rob Duskey, a solo-acoustic singer-songwriter by trade, by surprise. In fact, just convincing him to transpose his coffee house capabilities to the main stage took something of an intervention by family and friends. A disciple of the songs come first mantra, Rob marked this transformation with Slanted's 2009 release of his first full-length album, Cautiously Optimistic, a straightforward cross-section of Rob's introspective, hook-heavy songwriting and an instant showcase for the happenstance assembly of his seasoned backing ensemble, The Rounders. Produced by Vuture Visions' Billy DeMarco (Mary Cushman, The Vibronics), Cautiously has been lauded as "a flat out, a good time rock and roll tale of many loves found and many loves lost." (CoolCleveland.com). To be clear, t [...]

The Analog Affairgenre: pop
added: Sep 18 2009

Influenced by the likes of Stars, Straylight Run, Ben Gibbard, Brand New, City & Colour and Styrofoam, The Analog Affair self-describes itself as "underground indie electro-dramatic pop." They aren't too far off the mark. The Analogue Affair is the combined musical product of Evan Baker and Cody Moser, two creative individuals who met in Laramie, Wyoming. Later, even when Evan left for China, and Cody left for Tennessee, they continued to collaborate and the Analog Affair continues to develop. Listening to the music, one's ear is quickly aware of the heavy textures and layers that comprise each song. The process they utilize is vaguely akin to the Postal Service, another influence of theirs; Evan and Cody working together, but not together, weaving lyrics over instrumentals, to create songs that carry a sense of loneliness or lost love, or the wilted night sky after the party; hanging over everything like a scent. Though each piece contains a sort of velv [...]

Boreqgenre: electronic
added: Aug 12 2009

Boreq (previously known as Terra Perfida) has been producing tracks ever since he was twelve. Turning knobs, experimenting with sounds and creating as much noise as possible. Naturally, he ended up making breakcore. But his path to producing breakbeat-oriented songs wasn't straight. Starting with plain hardcore in '07, he made his name as Dj Bozevuist. After 'Project Bozevuist' had ended another project started... and another and another. Hopping from genre to genre, trying to master it all. This wasn't possible and only by experimenting he found out which genres fitted him. Hardcore left his life and Drum&Bass entered it. Hard basslines were (and still are) the trademark of his music. Who doesn't like a good Cebera Saw? And finally after all these years Boreq started making breakcore. This was begin '09. Now still he is making this type of music, along with Techno, Hardstyle, ambient and Drum&Bass. And some tracks that can’t be put into a genre at all.

Jameson Bladegenre: rock
added: Aug 12 2009

Jameson Blade is an American musician and songwriter born January 4th, 1988 in Dearborn, Michigan. Jameson makes experimental music that draws heavily from electronica, post-rock and folk music. His most seminal work is "The Fluorescence of Man" EP which was recorded during 2007-2009. The release is comprised of one track that runs 20:49 and pulls the listener through a dark vision of modern infastructure and society from the perspective of both those who operate perfunctorily within it, and those who seem to know not how. The track contains kitschy synth hooks and electronic percussion and sparse, delicate lyricism, field ambiance and occasional dialogue. The track progresses the listener through a series of movements and tattered, electric portraits, poems and perspectives. The EP is available for free download on Jameson's MySpace page, along with his latest release "The Love of Jameson Blade" which is a completely analog, minimalist folk project.

Taylor Smithgenre: folk
added: Aug 12 2009

Taylor Smith is a long story. So long, in fact, that the story itself (as exciting and unbelievable as it may be) really just doesn't matter much anymore. What matters is the result. Taylor has found himself a way from his hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan to Chicago. Trained on trumpet, self-taught on everything else, he now sits in his room with his parrot Avery and records music all day long. Every once in a while, he's able to land a show at some small venue in the area, but in the meantime, he's trying to produce as much material as he can before he's dead. His website is updated once a week with a new song, and once his technology gets rolling, he hopes to have a new song posted everyday. Always check back whenever you feel like, he'll always be updating. When music isn't free, neither are people.

Ed Carvalho / Project Mind7genre: electronic
added: Jul 05 2009

My name is Eduardo Carvalho, aka "Ed" or, when I save my songs... "Ed Carvalho". I'm starting Project mind7 as a "band" name. Even though I'm the only band member. This project is about speaking one's mind through music... my ideas or simply my moods. Project MIND7 ( a mind set ) I was born and raised in Brazil. In my native language, Portuguese, the number seven is "sete" (sounds like the word "set"). I decided to add a little of my roots into this project name... so since I added the number seven... to my view, I have a "project mind set" where "set" is just the sound of seven in Portuguese. My music style is more "New Age" / "Experimental" using synthesizers and sound samples.

In 2003, Chuck left Jersey and Angus left MD for the swirling desert sands of Arizona. Fate brought the two together again in a dive bar in north Phoenix. I am an older dude who has been writing music for maybe thirty-five years now (a whale of a long time). I play trumpet and synthesizer (piano, organ etc), and guitar. Some of my songs are vocals pieces sung by a couple of local artists from Flint, Michigan. My music styles are easy listening types [of] jazz, pop, rock. Instrumental pieces include Latin rhythms (my favorite), among others. Herb Alpert was an early influence as well as songwriters Burt Bacharach, Henry Mancini, Van Morrison, and many others. I am 'old school' and clean-cut to the bone. I love and can create interesting arrangements of Classical music favorites. I consider my music (and so do many listeners) to be a breath of fresh air and both entertaining, nostalgic, and sometimes even beautiful.

Shyftgenre: electronic
added: Mar 02 2009

Born in Stillwater, Minnesota, United States. Currently resides in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. This is Shyft's gabber/hardcore/breakcore/drill'n'bass project. Distorted heavy bass kicks, thick synths, and powerful melodies are the aim here- unless it's chopped up progressive percussion. Shyft started playing with music composition at age twelve and production at age fourteen. Stubbornness and impatience cause this artist to learn music programming almost entirely first hand and through trial and error. Experimentation is responsible for the final mix of many tracks. Influences come from many places, and not just the gabber or brain dance scene. It ranges from techno, trance and house genre classes to organic genre classes such as folk and metal. Shyft's musical philosophy focuses on a continuous struggle to make tracks sound better, clearer, and more crisp, as well as breaking down boundaries of genre in terms of both composition and production.
