![]() | genre: rock added: Oct 01 2009 "Cleveland hasn't had a male/female vocalist rock record pairing as enjoyable as this in a long time." -CoolCleveland.com Getting signed as the first rock act to Boston's Slanted House dance-techno label really took Rob Duskey, a solo-acoustic singer-songwriter by trade, by surprise. In fact, just convincing him to transpose his coffee house capabilities to the main stage took something of an intervention by family and friends. A disciple of the songs come first mantra, Rob marked this transformation with Slanted's 2009 release of his first full-length album, Cautiously Optimistic, a straightforward cross-section of Rob's introspective, hook-heavy songwriting and an instant showcase for the happenstance assembly of his seasoned backing ensemble, The Rounders. Produced by Vuture Visions' Billy DeMarco (Mary Cushman, The Vibronics), Cautiously has been lauded as "a flat out, a good time rock and roll tale of many loves found and many loves lost." ![]() | genre: pop added: Sep 18 2009 Influenced by the likes of Stars, Straylight Run, Ben Gibbard, Brand New, City & Colour and Styrofoam, The Analog Affair self-describes itself as "underground indie electro-dramatic pop." They aren't too far off the mark. The Analogue Affair is the combined musical product of Evan Baker and Cody Moser, two creative individuals who met in Laramie, Wyoming. Later, even when Evan left for China, and Cody left for Tennessee, they continued to collaborate and the Analog Affair continues to develop. Listening to the music, one's ear is quickly aware of the heavy textures and layers that comprise each song. The process they utilize is vaguely akin to the Postal Service, another influence of theirs; Evan and Cody working together, but not together, weaving lyrics over instrumentals, to create songs that carry a sense of loneliness or lost love, or the wilted night sky after the party; hanging over everything like a scent. Though each piece contains a sort of velv [...] |

![]() | genre: punk added: May 31 2009 A trip from Jersey, a Ween show, and a kidnapping are all elements that describe the first time Chuck and Angus met in Baltimore, MD in 2002. A brief stint into the seedy underbelly of Mobtown was all the two of them figured they would ever see of each other. Boy were they wrong! In 2003, Chuck left Jersey and Angus left MD for the swirling desert sands of Arizona. Fate brought the two together again in a dive bar in north Phoenix. The duo began playing Ween covers at open mics around the valley before they realized that they were some darn crafty song-smiths. Chuck Roast is an extremely talented guitar player, vocalist, and song writer. Angus, with training from Julliard, toots the kazoo and sings.a 2005 saw the release of a tour EP, a live album, and finally "Girlfriend Stealing Good", the long play CD. The album has been welcomed warmly, by people that could take a moment to giggle. Life is just too damn short to be serious all the time right? The album can be purchased at < [...] |

In 2005 he began to record his music step by step until today. By the way the name "SirPreiss" combines the word "sir" and the artists last name to the word "surprise". ![]() | genre: electronic added: Jan 29 2009 Esa has been composing instrumental electronic music for close to 14 years, and has become a permanent bubbling-under/upcoming artist, which is one of the reasons he has agreed to test out our Starving Artists concept. His material has often been seen in the same playlists as material by Kettel, Plone, other early warp artists such as Aphex Twin and Plaid. The most used reviewing phrase is "early 90s warp / artificial intelligence / beautiful armchair listening techno with a detroit influence". He is one at the fore-front of people releasing music for free via net-labels and otherwise, and has also branched out into physical releases in the past decade. You are free to download anything you like on this page and enjoy it. You are, however, allowed, nay, requested to, if possible, burn these materials to a cd-r or a dvd-r or notify a festival organizer or a venue owner of these tracks - that would be swell. Or, if you feel like it, you could just donate a dollar or two thousand. millio [...] |
