| | if you haven't seen timecrimes, it's an interesting little movie that's a bit like 'if a tree falls in the forest' for time travel. if perception is satisfied, can time then be tampered with? the upcoming movie is to be produced, of all things, by the screenwriter for schindler's list and gangs of new york. playing grand theft auto i've always wondered how the creators would handle themselves in any one of the many situations portrayed in their games. 0 comments | |

| | project natal is an upcoming project from microsoft purporting to add a depth-sensing camera to the xbox 360. if this video is to be believed, things are about to get pretty awesome. the technology behind it appears to be rather serious as denoted by the wikipedia page for project natal but i'm guessing creating viable applications for it will prove to be a significantly greater challenge. the accompanying article to the comic is quite an interesting read too. i've been very pleasantly surprised with the writing at penny arcade for a while now. it's certainly been good enough to rival their skill at crafting videogame-related comics, the limitations of three-panel strips notwithstanding. 1 comments | |

| | if you're not aware of the debate, there's been much talk over the fact resident evil 5 takes place in africa and has you almost exclusively kill black zombies. i was a little worried about that, but conjectured that it's more likely the west here is under political scrutiny, since they're the ones who infect the africans in the first place. perhaps a commentary on the evils of imperialism and its effects or unprepared or incompatible cultures. the anthropologist in question agrees with me to some degree, and cites some very specific examples. 1 comments | |
